SDCFX 008G E61 300x257 Anmeldelse: SanDisk Extreme CompactFlash 60MB/s 8GB

Sandisk is not an unknown name, either here on MyDigitalPhotos.dk or out among the photographers in Denmark and abroad for that matter.

Sandisk has in recent years been one of the preferred manufacturers of memory among both the general consumer, but certainly among the more professional users.

SanDisk currently has a huge range in flash memory for both cameras, computers, etc..

Sandisk Extreme that we must look at this time, is one of Sandisk latest products, and just Extreme series is aimed at DSLR cameras due to the high read / write speed of up to 60MB / s

Sandisk Extreme series within CompactFlash cards currently consists of the Ultra II, Extreme and Extreme Pro and Extreme Series is located right in the middle of the field.

What's in the box?
Sandisk Memory Card with "Extreme" title, usually provided in a relatively large box, and this can probably be explained by that Sandisk have to differentiate Extreme series from Standard and Ultra products.

The packaging that SanDisk Extreme Compact Flash Card 60MB / s 8GB comes in, is not nearly as big as the previous ones, but still a nice size. In the box you will find, besides the memory card, a free download of the application "RescuePRO" which can be used to recreate images, video and more. from memory cards.

Functionality
There are probably many who are wondering why you should choose an 8GB CompactFlash card to 500, - to another 8GB Compact Flash cards for 250, -. The answer is relatively simple, since it is the higher read / write speed you pay extra for. And what does this mean in practice? If you have an old digital SLR, you will probably not win anything by choosing one of the new fast Compact Flash cards, such as Extreme series as we have on the test bench this time. Has contrast been out and invest in a newer DSLR camera with high resolution for fast continuous shooting and possible. HD / Full HD video - then it's suddenly interesting, and sometimes need a memory card with a high read / write speed.

With the launch of DSLR cameras like the Canon EOS 7D and EOS 5D Mark II is a fast memory card suddenly a necessity if you want full use of the good video quality (1080p) and continuous recording in either JPEG or RAW.

To enjoy the high read / write speed of up to 60MB / s must be insured me that your DSLR camera supports UDMA, which theoretically supports up to 100MB / s read / write speed. Sandisk's Extreme Pro series is currently. the one that comes closest, with up to 90MB / s

Benchmark
Sandisk said that SanDisk Extreme Compact Flash Card 60MB / s 8GB has a maximum read / write speed of 60MB / s, and here I know from experience that my Sandisk ImageMate All In One Card Reader can not keep up.

However, it is not charged us from seeing how high a read / write speed we can achieve with a card reader that could handle up to 34MB / s cf Sandisk's information.

sandisk extreme 60mbs 8gb 240x300 Anmeldelse: SanDisk Extreme CompactFlash 60MB/s 8GB

As the test shows that one obtains "only" a maximum write speed of 23MB / s and a maximum read speed of 30MB / s, and in conjunction with Sandisk about a maximum read / write speed of 34MB / s for the card reader, then cast the result very good .

But should not be disappointed by transfer to PC, since it is not the memory card but the card reader to put the restrictions.

Conclusion
Do you invest in the sleek DSLR camera with lots of mega pixels, Full HD video and other demanding features, so it is not worth it to save on memory card, then you know that do not get full use of your new investment.

Sandisk Extreme CompactFlash 60MB / s in the middle of the field, and is fast enough for most cameras on the market currently., And especially in view of the Canon EOS 7D and EOS 5D Mark II where this card fits perfectly.

Yes, the price is higher than a similar card with a lower speed, but it costs a little extra when you have to have the best, and it is worth every penny!

  3. Peter |

    Hello

I have just purchased this card to my also just nykøbte Canon EOS 7D, but when I record full HD video, then picks it tremendously when playing - so much so that the whole video part is useless. I have both tried to play directly from the card and to copy the file onto the computer hard drives, but with the same sad result. What cause can be - someone who has explanation or just experienced the same?

    Thank you, Peter

    Hi Peter,

It sounds perhaps more to the PC may not be quite keep up with? And / or you have some old codecs? My impression is that many have chosen this particular composition of the memory card and camera, and it is the first time I hear of such a "problem".

I have the record checked CameraLabs.com has reviewed the Canon EOS 7D recently, and they mention nothing about the need for faster speed than the 60MB / s your card make changes, so I do not think this is where the problem lies.

Try. to download VLC player, or attempt a more powerful PC (if this is old)
